Applications are due Friday, April 1st at 2:00 pm. After a review, applicants should hear back about next steps.
The Executive Committee is comprised of an Undergraduate Co-President, Graduate Co-President, VP Finance, VP Events, VP Communications, VP Industry and Careers, and VP Marketing. In addition, this year we are adding multiple Energy Club Coordinator positions
Descriptions of each position and their responsibilities can be found below:
1) & 2) Co-President (Undergraduate) / Co-President (Graduate)
The Co-Presidents are responsible for championing the Energy Club amongst graduate and undergraduate students, to the University’s academics, and to the broader community. Through ongoing consultation with members and the Executive team, they direct the club’s operations towards achieving the club’s mission and vision. They provide guidance and cohesion for the club’s activities and events, while enhancing access to and visibility of the Club’s activities on and off campus.
3) VP Finance (Treasurer)
The VP Finance shall be responsible for all monies received and disbursed by the University of Alberta Energy Club, and shall account for them according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. As well, he/she must ensure all monies be reported in monthly financial reports at the beginning of each month. He/She is also responsible for ensuring that an annual audit is completed, all accounts receivable are collected, an annual budget be completed and that all bylaws pertaining to finances are upheld. It is also the job of the VP Finance to help secure funding for the financial commitments of the group. The VP, along with one of the Co-Presidents, shall hold signing authority over the Clubbank account.
4) VP Events
The VP Events is responsible for consulting with members and Executives on potential activity or event topics, and for building relationships with partner organizations and the guest speakers. In addition, the VP Events coordinates Executives and volunteers for event organization and ensures event promotion.
5) VP Communications
The VP Communications is responsible for the coordination of the Club’s online presence through website media, social media, and mailing lists. The VP distributes a weekly address to the membership regarding upcoming events or opportunities hosted by the Energy Club, or its partners. The VP also ensures the Club’s website, Facebook page, and Twitter account have the latest information, and effectively conveys the Club’s ongoing activities to its members.
6) VP Industry and Careers
The VP Industry and Careers is responsible for developing and maintaining an outreach strategy to involve industry in Energy Club events, and to promote industry events to members. The VP Industry and Careers also develops a sponsorship strategy with companies involved in EC events. Through the developed relationships with industry, members may have the opportunity to network for possible job opportunities.
7) VP Marketing
The VP Marketing is responsible for the promotion of Energy Club activities and events on and off the University of Alberta campus. This promotion involves the coordination of announcements via in-person, social media, poster, or radio mediums. The VP shall develop appropriate digital or hard copy materials to effectively engage members and enhance participation.
8) Energy Club Coordinator
This new position is for those who are looking to contribute towards the goals of the energy club without committing to an executive position. Coordinators will attend Energy Club meetings and will assist the executives in providing input for upcoming events. This is a great opportunity to meet other interested individuals who share the same passion for the energy industry. EC Coordinators will be expected to assist in brainstorming ideas for future events and help with the execution of those events. This role is perfect training for transitioning into an executive position.
