The Energy Club is organizing a field trip to the Strathcona Community Energy Centre.
Strathcona's community energy (district energy) system supplies thermal energy to customers in the "Centre in the Park" development. The system's biomas combustion boiler serves as the primary heat source for the system, and natural gas boilers are used as a back-up fuel source. Utilizing biomass energy reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 1200 tonnes per year.
