Are you interested in renewable energy technologies? Do you have a technical background in electrical or mechanical
engineering? Can you read Chinese fluently?
If any of the above apply, Net Impact and the Energy Club are looking for YOU!
In 2011, a small wind turbine was purchased from China. Chris Lerohl (MBA) did some work with the turbine last year before graduating but ran into road blocks as the manual was in Chinese. The wind turbine is sitting in the CABREE office and we are looking for an ambitious team to work with the unit to determine where and how this turbine would best put to use on campus.
Goals of the project are up to the team, but might include:
- Getting the turbine up to an operational stage.
- Collect wind optimization data to determine location of best setup (anemometer).
- Determine how the turbine could have a net environmental and cost benefit.
This is a great hands on project. While we are looking for a few individuals with technical background and Chinese fluency, this project is open to anyone interested!
