We are still looking for candidates interested in being a part of the executive committee of Energy Club next year. If you are interested, please e-mail (energyclub DOT ualberta AT gmail DOT com) with a paragraph containing which position you're interested in, short bio, and why you want to be a part of the team. These paragraphs are due March 24. Here is description of who is running so far and what the positions are:
Co-President (Undergraduate) & Co-President (Graduate):
The Presidents are responsible for the overall direction and management of the Club and for promoting the Club among undergraduate and graduate students. The primary role is to provide guidance and cohesion for the Club as well as to further its vision and mission through their activities and leadership. The President is further responsible for ensuring that succession is carried out. The presidents set executive meetings as required, and are ultimately responsible for ensuring equitable division of labour among members of Executive.
Undergraduate – Monica Ho
Graduate - Babatunde Olateju and Julian Leal
In their capacity as financial officer, the VP Finance is responsible for all monies received and disbursed by the University of Alberta Energy Club, and shall account for them according to our internal policies, monitoring and recording each transaction from the group bank account. It is also the responsibility of the VP Finance to ensure all monies be reported in monthly financial reports at the beginning of each month. As well, He/She is also responsible for ensuring that an annual audit is completed, all accounts receivable are collected, an annual budget be completed and that all bylaws pertaining to finances are upheld. It is also the job of the VP Finance to help secure funding for the financial commitments of the group. Get out your calculator and run for this great position!
The VP Events is responsible for coordinating and promoting Energy Club events throughout the year. Also, the VP Events should oversee and provide guidance for initiatives including but not limited to speaker nights, panel of discussions, and meetings.
The VP Communication (VPC) is broadly responsible for both intra-group communication and for promotion of events outside the group. The VPC is also responsible for the annual update, for drafting and/or editing Energy Club communications such as emails to members and advisors, and for ensuring impartiality, factuality and objectivity in all communications. VPC is further responsible for the group’s messaging on all materials see by non-executive including; website, newsletter, event posters and marketing campaigns.
VP Industry and Careers:
The VP of Industry and Careers is responsible for developing and maintaining an outreach strategy to involve industry in energy club events, and to promote industry events to members. The VP Industry and Careers would also develop a sponsorship strategy with involved companies. Through the developed relationships with industry, members would have the ability to network for possible job opportunities.
