Aaron Liu
Undergraduate President
president.undergrad@energyclub.ca

Aaron is entering his fourth year of Mechanical Engineering co-op program at the UofA. He is fascinated by the ground-breaking movement undertaken in the energy industry and is passionate to learn the social, economic and environmental implications of Alberta’s changing energy landscape. His primary areas of interests involve conventional and unconventional Oil & Gas, Solar and geothermal. Through his previous internship with Alberta Environmental Monitoring Evaluation and Reporting Agency, he was exposed to and perfumed analysis on an array of environmental issues related to resource extraction activities, He also has an extensive understanding of crude refining & chemical manufacturing via his co-op at Imperial oil Strathcona Refinery as a turnaround support engineer. He and the executive team look forward to bringing an adventurous and eventful year to students.

Ali Alizadeh
Graduate President
president.grad@energyclub.ca

Ali is studying toward his M.Sc. degree in Engineering Management at the University of Alberta and he has an undergraduate education in Chemical Engineering plus 8 years of experience as a design engineer in oil and gas projects. He is currently working on techno-economic analysis of co-processing bio oil (derived from biomass) with crude oil in a conventional refinery. The idea of blending bio-crude with crude oil and processing them together offers a number of advantages like minimising capital cost by using existing refinery units and distribution systems, the ability to blend at various ratio and flexibility.
Ali’s main interest is toward GHG mitigation and energy saving technologies, new GHG emission policies and all renewable energy systems. As a researcher at the University of Alberta Sustainable Energy Research Laboratory and as an executive member of the Energy Club, he would like to be involved in energy related discussions that is currently happening at all provincial, national and international levels.
